Spring is here! Get your hay today!
Feeding animals requires more than hay alone. Here is some information to help you get started
These terms can generally be used interchangeably, but on this page you will find them used with specific definitions:
Pasture is the "crop" itself. This is the grass, legumes, and other plants.
Paddock refers to the enclosures used for animal rotation.
A good mix of grasses and legumes should make up the majority of your paddock.
Animals love to eat new growth, and if left to their own devices will cause there to be bare spots in your pasture. Rotating your animals will help ease the pressure on a paddock.
Generally, we recommend that you mow your paddocks after the animals have been moved off it so that the paddock will grow back evenly.
We can make generalized recommendations over the phone as a free service for our hay customers. Even if you buy only 9 small square bales, we want to be there for you and your animals.
For local, individual recommendations, we can provide an initial consultation for $300. This includes a site visit, planting recommendations, and fertilizer recommendations as well as a mid season follow-up.
