All About Alfalfa
At Shedd Farms, we strive to grow an exceptional forage crop. Alfalfa has a high nutritional content that is an excellent part of any feed ration for horses, goats, sheep and cattle.
Alfalfa Pricing/bale
2024 Alfalfa Small Square (Local Pricing)
All pricing subject to change without notice due to price fluctuation in fuel, fertilizer and inflation
First Cutting (Orange Twine)
Highest yielding cut. Usually a slightly higher lignin content.
Second Cutting (Blue Twine)
Excellent cutting with lower lignin content. Yield is slightly lower.
Third Cutting (Yellow Twine)
Excellent cutting with lower lignin content and higher nutritional value. Yield is slightly lower again.
Fourth Cutting (Pink Twine)
Our highest quality cutting. This cutting has a significantly lower yield that the previous cutting.
Garden/Landscape Hay
Hay that doesn’t meet our feed quality standards.
Delivery
Delivery is for local customers on a case by case basis. Minimum delivery is 40 bales.
Shipping
Regional shipping is being explored, but not available at this time.
On Farm Storage Contract
We can store hay that you have purchased on our farm, lock in your price, and guarantee hay availability through the winter months. Purchase of hay required prior to storage contract.
Once it's gone, it's gone.
